Being in the Groove

Being in a groove can become a problem if it leads to getting stock in a rut. However, your groove can lead you to greater knowledge of the world and the universe, of your cosmos and your self. Knowledge is a way to power.

If your interest in,say, turtles, motivates you to explore and discover, you may have fun gaining knowledge. And if your belief that that knowledge leads to power motivates you a bit more .....

Imagine: turtle soup, fine restaurants, wetlands, rivers, seas, travel, ..... biology, business, antique tortoiseshell combs, turtle egg breakfast on a Polynesian isle, politics, geography, natural resources, zoos, ..... imagine and do.

And be led to wonderful problems.

Reasons For Going There

The reasons for going there ought to be better than those for staying here.

I have made a fairly extensive list of my major important goals an objectives and upon analysis of it, I find that can meet almost all of my important goals here, as well as I can there. There are, however, some few that I nay be able to better meet there.

Here are what at the moment seem to be excellent reasons for making the move:
  • Here, I have been feeling unmotivated and poorly rewarded. For whatever the reasons I'm kind of bored. I have learned that I need a bit more novelty than do many. There, I feel that I will be blessed with pleasant novelty and variety for some time.
  • Here, I am finding little satisfaction in driving. I am finding more evidence that I drive less safely and skillfully than I once did. I also so that keep a personal vehicle is a significant expense. There, I am sure that I can live comfortably with no personal vehicle. I will probably find it necessary to live in a city.
  • Here, grooming help such as haircuts and pedicures seem expensive. There they will be cheaper.
  • Here, I cannot afford housekeeping or maid-service. There, I a can more economically find such help.
  • Here, I have not been appropriately physically active enough. Here, I am compulsively over-eating. There, I believe that I will have a greater likelyhood of making appropriate life changes.

Because of the way I have arranged my life here, my housing and medical care costs will probably be no less there than the are here. However, even thees to items may be more simply handled there.

However most things of life are as easily and congenially handled here as they are there.

I do seem to b very busy here, but suspect that I will be more appropriatel active there. I see more movement and more fun there. I see a bit more abundant life thee.

To Act

I have on occasion counseled another that it would be a mistake to act from fear.
Yet,
as a youngster, hiking alone, I would come to a cliff or waterfall I was afraid to go down, but thought I should.
What I did is take off my shoes and throw them down. I created two new fears; the fear of traveling home over very rough country without shoes on my feet and the greater fear of having to explain to my parents what had happened to my shoes.
So,
I climbed down the cliff or waterfall to my shoes.
Is there a lesson in this story that can show me the way to get the increased physical activity I need to live my life healthily well?

The Dear, the Crane, and the Turtle

Health thoughts prompted by a consideration of the dear, crane, and turtle symbols of classic Tao:

There is a Taoist art or practice some call Chi-kung or internal energizing exercises. Chi-kung exercises combined with meditative and breathing techniques may form a useful self-healing system. These internal exercises are probably more important and useful than are ones regular external exercises and may be profitable to continue when one is not continuing what one may consider ones regular exercises regime. An online search may start you on the the path of these exercises.

Go on, go far, return, follow the laws.

If you decide to try one or more of the deer, crane, or turtle related exercises I recommend that you determine to stay with the exercise you choose for more than three months, or twice that, if you would benefit. If you would give yourself a chance to benefit fully from associated meditative and breathing practice, the masters would have you determine to continue for a decade or more. Of course the only practice benefiting use is the one we are in the midst of and some benefits accrue throughout your practices.

Let go of that which does not include bliss, vitality, and wellness.

Modern knowledge of the workings of our bodies helps.
Learn more of your glandular system.
Begin to gather facts about supplementation or augmentation of the endocrine system by your fourth decade.
I have been slow to take this advise.
Can you help me with motivation or information?

Excellent Results

We know good exercise and good nutrition are good for us. Appropriate physical activity and appropriate eating have excellent results. Now it is important to find more effective motivation for taking the action that leads to those excellent results.

Once we have the nature of that which is appropriate physical activity for us well in mind and once we have the nature of that which is appropriate eating for us well in mind, we are ready for the next step. That step may be to consider why we are not partaking of the good physical activity we consider appropriate to us. That next step may be to consider why we are not partaking of that good nutrition and appropriate eating we believe is in our best interest.

Around Camp Thunderbird

The neighbor's dogs have been using my woodshed as a killing ground for rabbits. They have had the good grace to eat parts of the rabbits or are taking them home. Most often the heads are gone;so,they may be taking them home as trophies. I may use this activity as motivation to clean out the woodshed and to perhaps tear it down. I have started by painting a large sign with the word "Free" to put out by the road in an attempt to recycle the wood.

I was looking across the the road just before sun-up this morning and saw a largish mammal that I didn't recognize. Neither it's shape or the way it moved seemed reminiscent of the local for. I could of been of the cat family but didn't move or act like the feral cat I've seen around and it seemed a bit too big to be that rather large feral cat. A mystery.

The large handsome desert iguanas are still around. I see their trails and burrows often, but seldom see them. Most often when I do they are moving quickly away from me. Not easy to get a good look at them these days, but do from time to time.

A large number of broad, black beetles showed up a few weeks back. Now they have become speckled with a green of a little plant that attracts them!

'My' cacti continues blossom. Now the pinks and reds dominate and the yellows are seldom seen. One blooms a wonderful bright orange.

Lies, Stupidity, Cowardice, Ignorance, Lazyniess, Carelesness

I sometime think of journalist as falsifiers when they say that they can't get the information. But, mostly they are probably just cowardly and stupid. Stupid is worse. It gets you killed first and gets you the news last. Fear is not cowardice. Acting immorally in the face of fear is.

I don't know what to think when I find that they cannot pronounce the words with which they report. For example there is some hell going on in Sri Lanka. There is an 'h' in hell and it is sounded. However there is no "h" in Sri Lanka. Why do very many news readers and announcers pronounce Sri with an 'h?'
The matter of that 'h' should surprise me less. Why? Because many of the people whose profession is the news have forgotten how to say that word. Rather than say 'news,' they say 'noose.' What they are saying for 'noose' I don't yet know. For very many of the recent decades the 's' in news has been pronounced like the 'Z' in Zenobia. While the 's' in noose has been pronounced like the 's' in hiss as in the sound a snake is said to make.

I know that values change, language changes, pronunciation changes, meaning changes. All is change, but not all change has ignorance as its principle motivation

Being well motivated helps.

Huh?

Though I write to be understood;
I expect to be not read.
When I am read;
I expect to be not understood.

So, when I get reactions like "Huh?" or "What the hell are you talking about?" or "That's just babble." I am pleased. I am pleased that reality is surpassing my expectations.

I'd find great motivation in specific criticism of my words.

I am grateful for any feedback, even the bird. I consider "Huh" a wonderful gift.

Thank you.
