History Is Here Now

Just watched the film "Everything is Illuminated" directed by Liev Schreiber. Worthwhile as an illumination of our condition and an interesting treatment of the material. Listed artists are Elijah Wood, Eugene Hutz, and Boris Leskin. I believe it was largely filmed in Ukraine.

Cherry Blossoms

Just enjoyed the German Film, Cherry Blossoms. It takes place in Germany and Japan. It deals with grief and reality and relationship from a novel and attractive perspective. I was ignorant of the artists: Elmar Wepper, Hannelore Elsner, Maxmillian Bruckner, and Nadja Uhl. So much English was used that the sub-titles were little needed.

"Shall We Dance?"

I Just enjoyed a 1995 Japanese movie called "Shall We Dance?" Koji Yakusho played the lead with a number of excellent female actresses. The dancing was great. Dance, and relationship of the dancers to it, was the true star.

Movies

I like learning about movies to watch. I love hearing your reactions to ones that have impressed you. I watch a lot of film; mostly via NetFlix.

I just don't seem to have much to say about them. For example tonight I expect to watch "Waking Life" directed by Richard Linklater. Its and animated film about philosophical discussions. If you ask me about it I will probably say that it was pretty good and not know what else to say. By tomorrow mid-day it would become difficult to even remind me of the details of the film.

If we were watching the film together I'd be pleased to push 'pause' and stop the action and to discuss what had been occurring in the movie at length. If it were important enough to you I go back over the movie and take notes and lay out discussion points.

What can I say.

The Illusionist

Check comments in earlier posts.

Rented the DVD and liked the film, The Illusionist, very well.

I liked it not only because it reminded me of my work with a magician, but also because it showed no open-mouth kissing before a proper level of passion was demonstrated.

It is a simple and neat story well called a romantic thriller.

Film, Movies, Sex and Violence

I like movies.
I don't talk about movies very well, but I love to read your comments.
There are a lot of good movies out there, but it is not always easy to find them. WWW.netflix.com has been a big help to me, but I want and need more help.
If one counts the movies made in Argentina and Zazibar there are a lot of them out there and they are not all good for me. Even some of those I choose carefully are not good for me. I need help.
I even needed help to recognize the therapy value of "Angle A." I call it "Angela."
Consider movies as therapy. It's cheaper.
Please add your discussion and recommendations in "comments" below.
I'll try to do my share by mentioning a film which seems worth viewing from time to time.

Opinions

Our opinions are wonderously valuable gifts.
I'd love to hear your opinion on any topic. Topics that seem very important to me just now are: blogs, international law, national law, mass media, a particularly good film or video, water retention in the human body, atmosphric air quality, genes, genealogy, love, and more.
