Citizens, You Can

Citizen,you can:

be represented,
know your representative,
be a good citizen,
have a representative who knows and respects you,
be free to make a mistake and to learn fro it,
decide with others,
get a representative,
support a representative,
share values, assumptions, opinions,
protect yourself,
demand the full service of the law,
tell your representative how to vote,
claim your Constitutional rights,
get effective representation,
support another citizen,
be supported by another citizen,
get rid of a representative who doesn't cooperate,
send a representative to our representative,
decide what great justice you want,
prioritize your wants, needs, desires,
and live your life.

Declaration of Peace

The man presently leading our national efforts to reduce the demand for illegal drugs in our county has declared that the use of the term "war on drugs" is counter indicated.

He seems to understand that the term implies violence toward American citizens and has no effect on drugs.

Christian Love

Coca production in Colombia has been reduced by loving the people in the area of production.

Cocaine use could be reduced here by loving fellow citizens who are potential or actual cocaine users.

This loving is the kind that the biblical Jesus said any true follower of his would use.

Love in Colombia came in the form of much lacking and much needed roads and schools, as well as the protection of law.

So Willing

Why, fellow citizen, do we seem to be so willing to .......
~ keep ourselves ignorant
~ be okay with a professional military more and more supplemented with mercenaries
~ be at war
~ make war
~ kill children, women, and other forms of life
~ kill in the name of Christ
~ support the hate and mistrust in Senate bill One and the Patriot Act
~ abdicate responsibility for our prisons, schools, military, health care, welfare, parenting
~ go on being fearful of talking to one another about the things important to us
~ teach our children to kill without clearly understanding why
~ think that it is fine for us to back out of or ignore our treaty obligations
~ why do we contemplate killing those who honor theirs
~ fear people who have attacked no one when we have attacked so many
~ to be proud of our many violent attacks on others
~ be so careless of 'collateral damage'
~ be so careless about killing civilians
~ support wasting mercury in the ocean when we know it threatens all life
~ avoid teaching our children
~ avoid caring for the health of our children?

What other question might we ask ourselves?

As Citizens

Most of us are concerned about our wars. Most agree that our involvement in war causes individuals and peoples to suffer, fear, and die. All of us can see that our wars cost us blood and tax dollars.

Can we come to some agreement about when, where, and under what conditions it is worthwhile for us to begin new killing or not? Could we talk it over? Can we come to a democratic agreement on a national war policy as part of a national foreign policy? We can maintain the necessary dialog? When shall we begin?

Who Gives a Floss

Some mothers, fathers, citizens, and eaters care about the quality of our food. Some have an interest in how the nutritional value of our food has fared over the years. Some are interested in the changes in nutritional value of truck crops over the decades, especially recent decades.

As tax paying citizens we sponsor institutions that one would think would have some interest in changes in the nutritional value of our food. I haven't been able to find any. For Example:
U. S. Dept. of Agriculture;
Nutritional Data Laboratory of the Agricultural Research Service;
Fruit and Vegetable Division of the Agricultural Marketing Service;
do not tabulate the nutritional value of our food over time. Well, it does all changes to shit. Wonder who is interested in changes in shit. I remember a study of pigs .....

Even now, when deliberate genetic changes account for great changes in nutritive values of truck crops (fruit and vegetables), organizations such as: Fruit and Vegetable Chemistry Research, ARS, USDA, Pasadena, CA; Vegetable Production Research, ARS, USDA, Salinas, CA; College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, U. of Calif., Riverside; do no longitudinal studies on the nutritional value of food.

I remember having cared.
