"To Know"

"To know" is a verb.
As our 6th grade teacher said, "A verb is an action word."
Knowing is a activity we engage in.
Knowing is a process that we learn.
Knowledge or knowing is not a thing to have, it is a doing, it is a purposeful stirring of your energies.
To know is a learning process.
To know is an experiencing of reality.
Where there is no action, knowledge is not.

Mago Bill Sheehan

My sister, Gerry Hook, is gathering a lot of genealogical information about our family. She insists on a high quality of documentation. Unfortunately, for me, documents like tax rolls and death certificates don't tell me much of a story. However, from a newspaper obituary for Mago's wife which Gerry found and copied I understand that....

Mago was well liked by "the river men."

Of course, to be sure of that, you'd have to believe a newspaper man writing at the beginning of the century before this one.

Concealed Weapons

Now is the time to ask questions;
because if you:
walk into my house,
come onto my property,
come into my town,
enter my State,
with a concealed weapon,
I am likely to shoot first and ask questions later
and I'm likely to not be the only person to do so.
Sneaking up on me is not part of personal rights, property rights, or State rights.

A man of honor carries a weapon where it can be easily seen.
If you are a decent man you will carry your weapon where I can see it. Men long carried staffs, slings, bows, knives, and swords. Most men carried those weapons where they could be seen. A good man who carried a weapon carried it where it could be seen.
I remember the time when it was not unusual for men to carry sidearms openly in the countryside of California, Arizona, and Nevada; especially in mining country. A man who concealed his weapon was considered to be the lowest form of criminal.
As youngsters we carried rifles downtown. We checked them at the door of the soda fountain or movies theater. We obeyed our law and could not imagine ourselves as a low life gun concealer.

Carry your weapon where I can see it or leave it at home.
I'm for personal rights.
I'm for property rights.
I'm for states rights.
I'm against concealed weapons.
When I'm at home, downtown, or traveling around the State, I don't what to feel I have to shoot first and ask questions later.
Let's ask the questions now.

The Enemy Way

The Navajo have "The Enemy Way."

What do we have for our fighting men?????

(bad word) you! Get over it.

The problem has been known and dealt with for millennium. Yet we let our young men go to hell.

What kind of people are we?

Could This Be

A Polish ballad

"A girl, in a winter coat and cap
Firmly grasps here hand grenade;
A girl, with soft and silken face,
Is going on her first raid."

in wartime?

Militia and sharpshooters of our American Revolution have been called
irregulars, guerrillas, bushwhackers,
partisans. Some were women and children, but they were fewer then they are now.

You Know What Murder Is

Killing an unarmed person is murder. That's the kind of killing that the major religions call a major no, no.

Some major powers tell us it is okay to kill unarmed men, women, and children during time of 'war.' We can choose to believe them or not.

Something Fishy?

Dead fish.
Lots of dead fish floating on the river July 13th.
Too many dead fish floating on the river and accompanied by a strong strange unpleasant smell.
Many dead fish floating on the Colorado River near Parker Arizona.
The river seems clearer than usual.
Live fish were swimming in the same water, so perhaps the kill happened elsewhere.
What caused this big fish kill?

Where might we get more information?
